Beautiful outdoor wedding. The wedding itself was simply beautiful. The staff was superb. Every question was answered with a smile and they were very accommodating. Their food wasn't great however. Appetizers were fine but the main dish is the main reason for a lower rating. A few of us that ordered the fish found it to be dry and tasteless. Those that had prime rib said it was over cooked. Later on we went the bar downstairs. Everything there was about average.

Went for the 6pm seating of the Thanksgiving buffet. Service was delightful, including both the table staff and those at the carving stations. All of the food items were fresh, refilled quickly and cooked to perfection. The turkey was moist and flavorful, the prime rib was heavenly smooth. The desert selection was varied and flavorful. The shrimps were huge! Will definitely consider going back again next year, well worth the 70 minute drive!

We usually stay at the Thayer when we visit West Point for a show or a getaway weekend. We enjoy the history and luxury. The rooms are comfortable and well-appointed. If you stay between April and November, spend an evening at Zulu Time, the rooftop bar. It has a laid-back feel, beautiful views, an excellent bar-food menu, and friendly bartenders.

Not a family friendly environment. I gather it's owned by previous graduates and the reunion crew of 67 was there. You don't get your monies worth. Not worth the hype between scratchy towels, key cards not working, chipped tiles in the bathroom and full blown partying on the second floor Zulu lounge until 2 am which you can hear from the fifth floor. It's a "prestige" thing to stay there and many of the "older people" we're not pleased to see children, even if well behaved. The staff is wonderful however, very short staffed. For adequate service, you really need more people. The food was average at best. We food the local eateries to be great. The best thing about the hotel was the view but you can enjoy the view from West Point itself!

A wannabe 3-4 star hotel that can only provide 2 star service. Hotel room's closet was build in such a way that if you use regular clothes hangers you cannot close the closet door. Maid left her cleaning cart in the hallway near outside our room all night. Hotel management does realize that a 4 star experience requires them to walk the floors and check on the staff everyday. When checking in the staff did not offer bell service and our room on the third floor had no elavator access. The restaurant staff while pleasant have apparently had no formal training. Only a 2 star experience.
